Java
If you do not see the message at left, your browser is not enabled for Java 1.0 applets.
If you do not see the button at left, your browser is not enabled for Java 1.1 applets.
While most of the Java applets in Online Journey Through Astronomy were
created using Java 1.0, a few are 1.1 level. All of the Java applets should
be viewable with both Netscape and Internet Explorer for Windows, and with
Internet Explorer for Macintosh. At present, however, Java 1.1 is not
supported by Netscape on the Mac, and you will not be able to view these
applets with that browser:
the constellation viewer and the
escape velocity,
mass / weight,
Kepler's laws,
center of mass,
time dilation, and
space contraction calculators.
Monitor Requirements
Resolution
OJTA needs a monitor with at least 800 x 600 resolution.
The image below is 800 pixels wide and 600 pixels tall.
If your monitor has this resolution or greater, you should be able to see all of the
image on your screen. (Drag the browser edges, if necessary, to expose all of the image.)
If your monitor is capable, we highly recommend you set its resolution to at least 1024 x 768.
Color Depth
For optimal viewing of many graphic elements, you should have your monitor
set to display millions of colors.
If your browser passes all these tests, you have the tools you need for
Online Journey Through Astronomy.
We hope your explorations of our Universe will be informative and enjoyable!
