Small-Angle Formula Calculator
This java applet allows you to use the small-angle formula to relate angular size on the
celestial sphere, linear diameter, and distance. Given any two, it will calculate the other.
You may choose from a variety of units, and the distance and linear diameter do not have to be
in the same units.
The calculator does assume that the angle is always given in seconds of arc.
Usage:
Choose which of the three possible calculations that you wish to make, enter the numbers for
the two unknown quantities, and click "Calculate It" to calculate the unknown quantity.
In an allowed textfield, you can type a number in integer, decimal,
or scientific form. For example, one thousand can be entered as 1000, 1000.0, or
1.0e+3.
Do not type in the textfield labeled "don't enter",
where calculated results will be displayed. Each time you make changes
(this includes selecting a different unit), you should click the button
"Calculate it" to obtain the result.
