This animation describes the evolution of red giant stars after the asymptotic giant branch (AGB) phase. This typically involves the ejection of the envelope to form a planetary nebula heated by the hot central star. The core of the star becomes a white dwarf when its nuclear fuel is exhausted. Usage: Click "Play" to begin and "Stop" to pause. "Step" moves forward one step and "Back" moves backwards one step. "Home" returns to the beginning.
