The r-Process Path

This animation illustrates the r-process or rapid proton capture process. The heaviest elements are made by this process, probably in Type II supernova explosions. Usage: Click "Play" to begin and when the button turns red to continue. "Step" moves forward through the animation one frame at a time; "Back" moves backwards one frame. Click "Stop" to pause. "Home" returns to the beginning from any point.
