Stability of the Sun
We may conclude from the table in the left panel
that if hydrostatic equilibrium were not being maintained by the
Sun, we should expect to see noticeable changes in a matter of hours (since the dynamical timescale is of
order an hour). We don't see such changes, so we conclude that the main sequence, at least for stars like
the Sun, is a period of great stability.
