Largest Redshifts
Notice that for
large redshifts such as those discussed in the left panel,
one must use the full relativistic formula to convert the redshift to
velocity.
For redshifts greater than 1,
the approximate formula z ~ v / c
would lead to the conclusion that these most
distant objects are receding at greater than light velocity, which is not true.
