Hydra-Centaurus and Beyond
The Great Attractor lies roughly in the direction of a large supercluster,
Hydra-Centaurus. However, it cannot be associated with that supercluster. First, its
estimated mass
is
10 to 100 times that of a supercluster. Second,
it must lie beyond Hydra-Centaurus because that supercluster is being dragged in the flow too.
