Spiral Galaxies (2) ...
The figure below left shows a
nice spiral galaxy,
M100 (or NGC 4321),
which is in the
Virgo cluster at a distance of about 18 Mpc or 60 million light years.
The image above right
shows a class Sc spiral galaxy M101 (or NGC 5457; also called the Pinwheel Galaxy),
which lies at a distance of about
7 Mpc or 22 million light years.
