Abundance of Spectroscopic Binaries
Binary stars are visual binaries only if they are close enough for us to resolve the
two stars of the binary.
Most stars in the sky are
spectroscopic binaries, but are too far away for us to resolve the individual stars
so they are not visual binaries.
