The Solar Dynamo
The magnetic field of the Sun, as for the planets, must originate in a
dynamo effect involving the rotation of the interior and currents of charged particles. The charged
particles are easy to obtain since most of the solar interior is completely ionized. But as in the case
of the planets, we do not understand the details of how the solar dynamo generates the Sun's strong
magnetic field.
