The Stars and Lighter Elements
In addition to producing the heavier elements, the
stars modify the original concentration of
big bang hydrogen and helium since their
primary energy source on the main sequence is the conversion of hydrogen to helium.
In addition, the stars produce small amounts of the other light elements having atomic numbers
between helium (2) and carbon (6)
by fusion reactions.
