The Long and Short
The questions of cosmology concern
the largest distance and time scales.
However, we have growing evidence that events now observed on these incredibly large scales
were strongly influenced by events at the beginning of time
that involved incredibly short distance scales and fleetingly small time scales.
We shall consider these issues in the chapter on the early Universe.
