Solving the Equations
Technically, the Einstein equations are known to
mathematicians as
coupled, nonlinear, partial differential equations. We may take that
as precise shorthand for "difficult to solve exactly"! However, it is often
possible to obtain approximate solutions, even when an exact solution is difficult.
