Vacuum Energy Density
If the cosmological constant is not exactly zero, "empty" space is permeated with an energy
called the vacuum energy.
This is why the cosmological constant is sometimes called the
vacuum energy density. A vacuum energy density would play the role of a kind of antigravity,
combatting the effect of gravity in slowing the expansion of the Universe.
