A Unified Model of Quasars & AGNs

The current view is that the various classes of active galaxies and quasars are related phenomena, powered by rotating, supermassive black holes at their centers. They have come to be known generically as active galactic nuclei (AGN), and a general model using the supermassive black hole mechanism has broad acceptance among astronomers.
