The Origin of Large Black Holes
One fundamental question is that of the origin of supermassive black holes. Were they formed when many
star-size black holes merged in the dense centers of galaxies to form a single large black hole?
Or perhaps they condensed from large initial mass concentrations in the centers when galaxies formed?
At this point we do not know the answer to this question.
