NGC 4261
NGC 4261 is a giant elliptical galaxy in the constellation Virgo, at a distance of about 30 Mpc. The
disk imaged by the Hubble Telescope appears to be tilted by about 60 degrees to the
line-of-sight.
The radio lobes, which mark jet outflow, are approximately perpendicular to the disk, as we
would expect if the jets are being generated by a central black hole engine. The black hole is estimated to
contain about half a billion solar masses.
